History of MPSC
Mother of Perpetual Succour Church, Mayur Vihar III
Mayur Vihar III earlier known as Kondli Gharoli was a huge wasteland during the development of Mayur Vihar Phases I and II in 1980. The area lay close to the Delhi-UP border. On one side Noida which grew as a modern city at a breakneck speed and on the other side lay Ghaziabad District. Thus, it touched Agra Archdiocese on one side and Meerut Diocese on the other. Housing needs of Delhi’s ever multiplying migrant population was insatiable. During the 1980’s Delhi Development Authority (DDA) launched a massive middle income-lower income group housing colony as part of the third phase of development of Mayur Vihar Housing Scheme.

The first allottees began taking up residence in 1991. There were a number of Catholics among them. These devout Catholics realized that their parish was some distance away in Trilokpuri. The Sunday masses were held in Sashi Garden which was still farther.
Fr. Cirilo F. Rodrigues the parish priest took up the matter with the Archbishop who directed his Estates Office to pursue a plot of land for school and another for the church in Phase III of Mayur Vihar.
DDA first allotted land for a school. However, as the custom was it dragged its feet in the case of the application for a plot of land for the church.
The Catholics in Mayur Vihar III continued to find their way to Sashi Garden church for mass. When Fr. Alex Toppo was parish priest of Prabhu Prakash Girja Trilokpuri, he began celebrating neighbourhood masses in Phase III. In 1997 St. Mary’s School was completed and Fr. Toppo began regular Sunday mass in the school hall.
Later, B. Thomas Chambakatt was appointed parish priest in June 2001. He first lived in the Rectory of Prabhu Prakash Girja Trilokpuri. Then in January 2002 he bought an SFS Flat in Mayur Vihar III.
The archdiocese paid Rs. 16,00,000 (Sixteen Lakh) for the flat. Fr. Chambakatt moved into this flat. In July 2004, Fr. Maria Soosai succeeded Fr. Thomas who initiated for formation of atholic Association, a Conference of St. Vincent de Paul Society, an Altar Servers’ Group and a talented Church Choir.
During his time as parish priest, the Archdiocese acquired a plot of land. Construction of the parish church started in due course. When completed the beautiful new parish Church was consecrated and dedicated by Archbishop Vincent M. Concessao on 26 April 2009.
In 2010 Fr. Wilfred D’Souza was appointed parish priest. He began promoting Small Christian Communities (SCC) among the 170 families in the parish. This step galvanized the parish into a close-knit community aware of its role as Church. There were 10 SCC units in 2013 each bearing the name of a Saint as its Patron.
